Abstract

Utopia constitutes a topic studied by many different disciplines, which highlights its complex nature. It is essential to consider it either a cultural phenomenon or a discursive genre. This article reviews the most important aspects concerning utopia as a literary genre. Subsequently, this state of the art is related to the Latin American scene and, more specifically, to Argentina with the aim of analyzing a tale written by Jorge Luis Borges who does a parody of the utopia to define an aesthetical position.
