Estudios económicos (ISSN 0425-368X, eISSN 2525-1295) is published twice a year in print and digital format. Estud. econ. is an academic journal dedicated to the publication of original scientific research with a firm commitment to comply with ethical standards and good editorial practices. The Triple-blind system is followed throughout the evaluation process: only the director knows the identity and affiliation of the authors and the two reviewers, but not the associate editors who decide whether the manuscript enters the review process and recommend reviewers.

History: The first predecessor corresponds to the journal Técnica y Economía (the proper English translation would be: Technique and Economy), belonging to the Instituto Tecnológico del Sur. This institution later served as the basis for the creation of the Universidad Nacional del Sur in Bahía Blanca city, Argentina. That collection began in August 1949, becoming the first local scientific journal and the main means of disseminating research by faculty and visitor professors of that academic institution. In 1956, the Departamento de Economía and the Instituto de Investigaciones Económicas were created together with the University, and in 1962 both institutions co-edited the first issue of the journal Estudios económicos. For political issues, the publication was interrupted in 1973. However, eight years later, it was decided to resume publication of a new series of the journal with the same name. Since 2017, the journal has been undergoing a transformation process that involved changes in policies and in the editorial and technical teams, and the creation of the electronic version in OJS. Today the entire collection, from 1949 onwards, is available in Open Access.

Indexation: Estud. econ. is Level 1 according to Res. 2249 of the CONICET Directory on valuation of publications in Social Sciences, B1 in Qualis-Periódicos of Brazil, and C2 in the Integrated Classification of Scientific Journals (CIRC) of Spain. It is included in the Redalyc index of consolidated journals, as well as in Scielo, Latindex, Dialnet, Repec MIAR, Biblat, ERIH+, DOAJ, among others.

The evaluation process for inclusion in Scopus began on 3 September of this year and on 22 September the same process began in Web of Science.
